Wednesday afternoon of the conference all participants are encouraged to join us on our excursion to historic downtown Mobile, AL. Bus transportation will be provided for participants without vehicles, and other participants as space allows. There is no cost to participate in the excursion, but all meals and activities will be paid for individually other than a buffet meal at Iron Hand.

Schedule

• 12:15pm: Bus transportation departs from Humanities Building
• 12:45pm: Arrival on Springhill Ave, behind Moe’s BBQ, for several lunch options
  • Moe’s Barbeque
  • La Delicia Mexican Brunch & Cantina
  • Wintzell’s Oyster House
  • The Insider (food hall)
• 2:15pm: Bus transportation from Springhill Ave to Downtown Riverfront or Battleship Memorial Park
  • Downtown Riverfront: The bus will drop off and pick up at the loading area next to the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza hotel, which is located near the riverfront area and several museums, including the History Museum of Mobile ($14), the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf ($14), and the Exploreum Science Center ($15).
  • Battleship Memorial Park ($18) is home to the USS Alabama Battleship, the USS Drum Submarine, and the Medal of Honor Aircraft Pavilion. (Parking is $5 extra per personal vehicle if not taking conference bus.)
  • Alternatively, participants can use this time to take a free self-guided walking tour of downtown and/or explore several local shopping and dining options. If you choose one of these options, you can return to the lunch bus location for a ride to Iron Hand.
• 5:00pm: Buses depart Downtown Riverfront and Battleship Memorial Park.
• 5:15pm: Bus departs Springhill Ave (lunch drop off location).
• 5:30pm: Buses arrive at Iron Hand Brewing.
• 6:00pm: Dinner at Iron Hand Brewing: buffet provided, additional drinks and food available for purchase.
• 8:00pm: Buses depart Iron Hand to hotels.
