‟Weaving Humanities Into Health Sciences Education” by Gail Kouame, Peyton McElroy, LoRen Modisa
Abstract:
In this panel, presenters will showcase ways in which they are equipping future healthcare professionals with humanities-based approaches to facilitate improved patient communication, contribute to well-rounded professional identity formation, and reduce burn-out. By interacting with visual arts and graphic medicine, engaging in narrative medicine reflections, and participating in medical improv activities, learners develop the ability to slow down, look closely, reflect and be fully present. Attendees will be led through an example of a hands-on narrative medicine exercise and reflection.
