‟Small Teaching in Action: Simple Strategies Making a Big Difference” by Emad Mansour, Amy Selkirk, Scott Liebertz, Ranelka Fernando, Wendy Wang
Abstract:
Faculty from the Fall 2025 Faculty Learning Community Book Club will share how they implemented small, research-based teaching strategies from James Lang’s Small Teaching book and the impact these strategies had on student engagement, learning, and interaction. In this panel-style session, each presenter will offer a five-minute classroom case study highlighting a specific instructional tweak—such as retrieval practice, prediction, or student-generated examples—and how it affected student participation, confidence, and performance. Attendees will leave with practical, human-centered ideas that can be immediately applied across disciplines to sustain meaningful learning environments in the age of AI.
