Held via Zoom on March 18, 1pm-2pm Eastern

PreFigure: beyond checking a box for accessibility.

Creating mathematical diagrams to include in our documents is not always easy, especially when we think about accessibility.  For instance, have you ever wondered if adding a short (roughly 100 character) alt text description does enough to make diagrams actually useful for low-vision readers? Most of the time, alt text gives readers some idea of what they’re missing out on, but not enough information to answer questions related to the diagram, as we often want our students to do when we include a diagram in our course notes, worksheets, or exams.  What if there was a way to create diagrams so that a web browser can read out descriptions of various components of the diagram and their relationships or so that an accessibility office could print the diagram with raised lines and points and braille labels, all while also generating a regular SVG, PNG, or PDF version of the diagram that looks great? Come learn about PreFigure, a free authoring system for mathematical diagrams that can do all these things.

Registration is free using the Register here link.
